COVID-19 Safety Measures

The Oklahoma City Convention Center continues to monitor global developments related to the COVID‑19 pandemic and any potential impact on our daily operations. We are working closely with each group to ensure that COVID‑19–safe practices are in place for every event.

Our local team is supported by Legends Global corporate resources and our VenueShield Environmental Hygiene Program, which guides operational best practices across all Legends Global facilities.

Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization

We use Needlepoint Bipolar Ionization (NPBI) technology to help deliver cleaner indoor air throughout the facility. Developed by Global Plasma Solutions, this patented system releases high concentrations of positive and negative ions through the HVAC system. These ions:

  • Attach to airborne particles, causing them to cluster and become easier to filter

  • Disrupt the surface proteins of pathogens, rendering them inactive

NPBI also provides added benefits, including reduced energy consumption and a lower carbon footprint.

All OKCCC air‑handling units are equipped with NPBI technology. Global Plasma Solutions’ NPBI is certified ozone‑free under UL 867 and UL 2998, ensuring no harmful byproducts are produced.


LightStrike Robot

The LightStrike Robot uses a patented Pulsed Xenon UV light system that emits UV across the full germicidal spectrum. This technology deactivates pathogens at the wavelengths where they are most vulnerable.

Xenex solutions are widely used in demanding healthcare environments and are well‑suited for hospitality, transportation, and other high‑traffic spaces. The LightStrike Robot helps deactivate bacteria, viruses, spores, and pathogens associated with the COVID‑19 pandemic.

At the OKCCC, the LightStrike Robot is deployed to disinfect high‑touch surfaces — including tables, chairs, and elevator cabs — helping us return spaces to service more quickly while enhancing guest safety
